STAMFORD, CT – May 31, 2017 – The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) today announced it has been granted $10,000 from The Inner-City Foundation for Charity and Education to support its Stamford Mentoring Program, which is provided free of cost to students in grades three through twelve. During the 2016-17 school year, SPEF has engaged 850 students and over 350 volunteer mentors in this nationally recognized program.
With continued, generous funding from the Inner-City Foundation for Charity & Education, SPEF is providing:
• Service-Learning mentoring to elementary students in grades 3 – 5, providing them with a solid foundation from which to transition into middle school
• Traditional one-on-one mentoring services for middle school students
• Success Planning Workshops that help high school students focus on creating plans for post-secondary success for whichever path they choose: college, career training or full-time employment.
SPEF Chief Executive Officer Matthew Quinones said, “We are so pleased to count The Inner-City Foundation for Charity and Education as one of our partners in the community. The funding received from this foundation will help SPEF expand out mentoring programs, thereby improving the lives of in-need children in Stamford.
