STAMFORD, CT – January 6, 2016 — The Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) today announced it will be celebrating 20 Years of Excellence in Stamford at its ninth annual Excellence in Education Awards. This year’s event takes place on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel (700 East Main Street, Stamford, CT) from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.
Each year, the Excellence in Education Awards recognize organizations and community leaders for their commitment and service to education in Stamford. It is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of both Stamford’s business community and the devoted individuals who help our students perform better, both in school and beyond into post-secondary education and the working world. There are three award categories: SPEF Philanthropy Award, SPEF Educator Award, and SPEF Leadership Award.
In addition to the Award Ceremony, this year’s event will feature Food/Beverage Pairings (highlighting local breweries and wineries), music from local artists, some fun fundraising activities, and a “Fund A Need” paddle raise.
All proceeds benefit the Stamford Public Education Foundation, the only non-profit agency going into classrooms with mentoring (414 students last year) and math tutoring (100 students last year), giving away thousands of books to elementary students – plus connecting resources to students and schools (i.e., working with JPMorgan Chase, SPEF brought Naviance to our 7,500 middle/high school students and most recently, through a partnership with Apple, SPEF is administering a series of workshops to help teachers grow the integration of technology into school curriculums).
Tickets for the evening are $125, which includes hors d’oeuvres, drinks and inspirational presentations, are available by calling 203-965-7733. Sponsorships are also still available.
