STAMFORD, CT – October 26, 2017 – On Saturday, November 4th, hundreds of local children and their families will be gathering at the Ferguson Library 3rd Floor Auditorium, One Public Library Plaza, Stamford, CT from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm to enjoy the Reading is FUNdamental book give-away. This bi-annual, free event is sponsored by the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) in partnership with Reading is Fundamental and The Ferguson Library.
During SPEF’s Reading is FUNdamental book give-away, every child in Kindergarten through the 5th grade will be able to select two new books to take home to help build their library. The kids will also be able to enjoy performances by guest readers from the Stamford community and participate in fun arts and crafts activities. They can even sign up for their very own library card during the event. This year, the book give-away will also include a raffle for the award-winning children’s novel Wonder by R.J Palacio.
This event is a part of SPEF’s Books Across Stamford program, which distributes over 5,000 new books to students in the Stamford community each year. This bi-annual book give-away provides approximately 600–700 books to 300–400 children per event. This past summer, the Books Across Stamford – Summer 2017 Series supplied 2,421 books to 1,454 kids across Stamford.
