WHAT WE DO
SPEF delivers programs and solutions that help students in Stamford Public Schools graduate high school prepared and inspired to thrive, whether their path is college, vocational training, the military, or entering the workforce. In pursuit of this mission, SPEF is proud to deliver the following programs and resources that prepare and inspire Stamford’s students and families to thrive:
Community Leadership Mentoring
Provides 4th & 5th graders with weekly mentoring sessions in which volunteer high school/middle school mentors discuss topics related to service-learning and complete a community service project.
Traditional Mentoring
Provides middle school students who need additional academic and/or social-emotional support with resources and guidance required to be successful.
Career Connecting Mentoring
Provides high school students with resources and guidance necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally for post-secondary success, including being paired up with a corporate partner.
Kindergarten Readiness
Summer Start is a five-week “Kindergarten Prep” program for children entering the Stamford Public Schools without having had a complete pre-school experience.
Adult Leadership
Enables parents and community members to become the next generation’s leading advocates and change agents.
Books Across Stamford
Provides students with free, new books to build their home libraries.
15 Years of Mentoring
For 15 years, SPEF’s nationally recognized Traditional Mentoring Program has provided students with resources and guidance that help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We partner with dedicated college, community, and corporate volunteers to give students weekly one-on-one and group mentoring sessions throughout the school year.
