Summertime. It’s about making memories with friends, old and new. It’s about having fun, enjoying the outdoors, and expanding your horizons.

Introducing Summer Voyager. Summer Voyager, presented by the Stamford Public Education Foundation in conjunction with Stamford Public Schools, is a 6-week, full-day summer camp providing academic and enrichment programs for elementary-aged youth (rising 5th, and 6th grade students). Our goal is to offer kids a “learning while having fun” academic environment and provide a wide variety of enriching experiences that include athletics, arts and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

What Makes Summer Voyager Unique?

Voyagers who participate in this innovative journey of learning and enrichment will:

• engage in a combination of academics and fun activities each day

• gain/develop an interest/talent that they can continue beyond the summer

• develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to thrive in school

Each day, Voyagers will arrive to camp at their school location – TBD and enjoy a healthy breakfast to start their day and get them energized for their journey into classroom learning. The curriculum is designed to be thought-provoking and engaging, while reinforcing topics from the previous school year and preparing the kids for the start of the school year. Lunch and recess will follow.

During the afternoon, Voyagers will embark on their enrichment experience, which focuses on promoting and developing social-emotional competencies and healthy lifestyles. Three areas of stimulating enrichment programming are being offered:

Performing Arts Activities

This workshop is the perfect introduction to the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton!”. It provides professional-level musical theater arts training that focuses on acting, singing, dancing, and costume/set design. It is tailored to the needs of enthusiastic young artists who will have the opportunity to study with Josue Jasmin (Mr. Joe from Rogers!), Wilber Escobar, and other Broadway professionals.

Athletic Activities

Over a two-week period, Peak Performance Sports Camps will provide our Voyagers a unique opportunity to participate in various sports and activities that they play during their Physical Education classes but not during the Summer! The program will allow the Voyagers the chance to play EVERYTHING they see during the school year in a physically and mentally safe environment! Floor Hockey, Pinball, Battleship, Basketball, Tag Games, Wiffle ball, Soccer, Flag Football, Capture the Flag, and much, much, more! Best of all the programs will be supervised by Physical Education Teachers, Certified Teachers and or Coaches. Come join us and don’t miss out on the fun!!!

STEM-Based Activities

Each of our Voyagers will head to SoundWaters Coastal Education Center in Cove Island Park each afternoon for two weeks for The SoundWaters Academy, a progressive summer program focused on academic/outdoor experiential activities. Voyagers will perform STEM experiments and research including remotely operated vehicles, live animals and use scientific sampling gear to collect data on and in the water. The students will rotate throughout the day allowing everyone to have time learning on the water, in the lab or in the field.
