Every student has the potential for post-secondary success. In alignment with the Stamford Public Education Foundation’s focus on preparing students for college and/or career training, SPEF purchased Naviance for Stamford’s Public Schools in 2010 and has assisted with the implementation since then. SPEF provides student and parent training and monthly usage reports for the district. Used in 4,200 schools by 100,000 educators in 72 countries, Naviance Family Connection allows Stamford’s high school and middle school students, their parents and guidance counselors to investigate, research, track and plan post-secondary career options, fields of study and for the college admission process. Students are encouraged to complete grade-specific milestones to create resumes, complete online surveys, compare schools, sign up for college visits, manage deadlines and apply for local, state and national scholarships. Because Naviance maps the GPA and SAT scores of each student against the entry level requirements and SPS acceptance data for the colleges he or she is considering, students are able to assess the likelihood of being accepted by the colleges they wish to attend.
