This year’s Excellence in Education Awards was a truly special evening, bringing together community members, corporations, school administrators, teachers, parents and other nonprofit agencies to celebrate the power of public education for our students here in Stamford. The night included a presentation of the awards as well as a networking reception featuring a silent auction and a tasting celebration of wine from Domaine Bousquet Winery, beer from Two Roads Brewery, and specially-selected hors d’oeuvres.
All proceeds benefited SPEF’s educational programs, including its nationally-recognized flagship program, the Stamford Mentoring Program. Helping to inspire guests to raise their paddles to make a donation, Hannah Cassara, graduate of Westhill High School, class of 2017, performed a heartwarming rendition of “Lean on Me,” while photos illustrating SPEF’s Stamford Mentoring Program played in the behind her.
