The Excellence in Education Awards is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of both Stamford’s business community and the devoted individuals who help our students perform better, both in school and beyond into post-secondary education and the working world. The night includes a presentation of the awards as well as a networking reception featuring a silent auction and a tasting celebration of wine, beer, and specially-selected hors d’oeuvres. All proceeds benefit SPEF’s educational programs including its nationally-recognized flagship program, the Stamford Mentoring Program.

Last year, SPEF presented the following awards:

SPEF Leadership Award: Polly O’Brien Morrow, for her commitment to enriching the Stamford community particularly in the area of public education.

SPEF Philanthropy Award: First County Bank and First County Bank Foundation, for its thought leadership and innovation in the area of education and its generosity in helping SPEF pursue its mission.

SPEF Community Service Award: Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, for its impact on youth development particularly focusing on literacy.

SPEF Educator Award: Claude Morest of AITE and Josue Jasmin of Rogers International School.

About SPEF:  Founded in 1996, the mission of the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) is to deliver programs and resources that elevate student, educator and parent success by bridging the gap between needs in the Stamford Public Schools and resources in our community.  During its two decades serving Stamford, SPEF has built a strong reputation for providing resources and programs that connect college, corporate and community volunteers with Stamford Public School students. In total, SPEF provided direct service to 734 students in 17 Stamford Public Schools during the 2015/16 school year.
