Launched in 2013 in partnership with the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, this program is offered 4 – 5 times per year for Springdale Elementary School’s English Learner (ELL) students, grades K-3, and their families. While parents participate in workshops, children read with volunteers, receive free age-appropriate books, do craft projects – and everyone enjoys dinner together.
“We wouldn’t be able to do this if we don’t reach these students in their neighborhood. The fact that (SPEF) can help us facilitate this is wonderful. It’s like the bridge between the school and parents.” – Cruz Elena, Bi-lingual Instructor for Stamford Public Schools
